Part of our mission statement is to embed operational excellence within the Green Industry. As a previous owner of one, I have found that at the core of a successful Landscaping Company are sound and solid operational processes. When you become Operationally Excellent your employees will be higher performers, resulting in happier clients. With less turnover of employees and pleased clients paying timely, you will have a healthier cash flow.

But what is operational excellence? We define it as when a company has implemented practices of Accountability and Efficiency, which results in Profitability. How does 212 Advisors help companies like mine reach operational excellence?

Efficiency

Are you using tools and repeatable practices to improve employee and organizational efficiency? We train leaders within your organization to build effective, performance-based teams. At the same time, we’ll strengthen your culture, so teams are motivated to excel.

Creating practices and implementing tools specific to how your company is structured allows for your individual success. No company is the same, and each one requires its own processes. Once you have a practice defined, you must clearly lay it out for your team. Clear is kind, Unclear is unkind. You cannot expect your team to follow a procedure they do not understand or value. The first step is providing clarity and the second is creating accountability.

As much as we believe in defining a clear procedure and holding employees accountable to it, we also know the importance of a strong culture. We have seen companies put practices in place with goals boosting morale by implementing a better process. In reality, you need a healthy culture from the beginning. Otherwise, your team might not be up for the challenge of an organizational change. No matter the benefit of a change, some employees hold tight to what is easiest: what they already know how to do.

Accountability

Are your employees held accountable to their job description? Do they have a list of responsibilities specific to their role? Do you have a system in place to verify their completion and results? We’ll guide you through the process of defining roles and responsibilities, setting clear KPIs to measure employee success, and setting examples for your staff.

One way to hold employees accountable to these responsibilities and KPIs is to implement checklists. For a typical client, these include weekly checklists as well as checklists for processes specific to customers (i.e., new or terminating clients). With defined roles and responsibilities, these are created specific to the role. By utilizing a checklist software, these checklists are created, used, completed, and stored electronically. This allows for easy access to verify an employee’s completed checklist to hold them accountable to it.

Profitability

With new ways of efficiency and accountability, you will notice an increase in profitability. When an organization is structured and organized, everyone knows their role and success comes much easier.

In addition to the support described in the sections above, we will systematize your landscape business operations to grow profitably. Your coach will teach you how to establish budgeting systems, create a pricing strategy, and set realistic sales goals. The end goal: increased Gross Margin.
